Who should go on Emergency First Aid at Work – 3 Day Course?

Once qualified, holders of this First Aid at Work certificate can be used as First Aiders in the workplace in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.

Course Content:-

  • The role of the first aider
  • Contents of First Aid kits (avoiding cross infection)
  • Recording of incidents and accidents
  • Assessing situations in emergencies
  • Administering first aid to casualties who;
  • are unconscious (including seizures)
  • require cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
  • are choking, wounded or bleeding
  • in shock
  • have minor conditions including: minor cuts, grazes and bruises, minor burns and scalds, small splinters
  • Administering first aid to casualties with;
  • injuries to bones, muscles, joints including suspected spinal injury
  • sudden poisoning
  • burns and scalds
  • eye injuries
  • anaphylactic shock
  • Recognising the presence of major illness and provide appropriate first aid including heart attack, stroke, epilepsy, asthma & diabetes
Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) certificate, valid for 3 years.
